It is high summer and nature is flourishing with fresh berries, sweet-smelling herbs, and honeybees delighting with every moment. It is the perfect time to infuse this splendor into sweet remedies to enjoy with ginger beer on a late summer evening or to store in the cabinet to keep warm on a snowy day. Cordials and shrubs are an incredible way to bring some joy into our lives as these sweet treats are best enjoyed with others to celebrate all the beauty they have to offer.
These preparations are centered in delight and can help us with everything from regulating our digestion to stimulating our immune system, calming our nervous system, and promoting vitality throughout our bodies. They are simply an infusion of plants and fruits into brandy or vinegar then mixed with the sweetness of honey to integrate their healing power and bring in vibrancy. Taken straight up or in a special drink, they really are something special.
In this workshop, we will work with a variety of plants to support our bodies and infuse them into sweet herbal remedies using alcohol, vinegar, and honey. We will explore recipes for an abundance of ages, dietary restrictions, and taste buds to ensure these medicines are joyful, pleasurable, and accessible to all! You will return home with some lovely plant relationships, a little bit of chemistry nerdiness, various recipes for potent preparations, and excitement for our sweet remedies to be ready in a few weeks' time.
All ages are welcome to join this workshop. Please be mindful of the needs of your child in relation to sitting in a circle with lots of listening and some hands-on activities when signing up! We will be walking on uneven ground in the farmyard to meet some plants while we are together - if you have an accessibility need please reach out to [email protected].
